At The Pilates Corner we create a safe environment for you to gently reintroduce yourself back to exercise while meeting other mums and gaining confidence in your new body.

No Childcare is needed as you can bring your baby along with you to the classes.

When am I allowed to attend?

Once you have had your baby, providing there were no complications during your delivery, it is safe to return to gentle exercise.

We request you wait for 6 weeks following a natural birth and 12 weeks following a C-Section before attending any of our classes.

I've been told I shouldn't do some exercises straight after giving birth, is this true?

Pilates can assist your return to wellness following the arrival of your baby, especially where the pelvic floor and tummy muscles are concerned. During pregnancy it is quite common for your tummy muscles to separate, this is called Diastasis Recti and with the right exercises totally correctable. It does mean that some exercises are unsuitable to do straight away, allow us to guide you safely through the best exercises for your post-natal body and at the same time allow you to feel like you've had a beneficial workout.

Our courses are specifically designed to gradually build up in difficulty at a sensible pace following childbirth. We focus specifically on the pelvic floor, abdominal muscles and upper body strength (to help you carry your growing baby without causing back pain).

Post-natal Courses

  • We run our six week courses in line with the school terms to avoid clashing with school holidays.
  • The course enables you to bring your baby with you to class (but you are equally welcome to leave them with someone at home and come along without them!).

What happens if I can't make a class?

We understand that sometimes being a mum can be tricky, and babies can be unpredictable.

We ask that you attend in person if at all possible, as you will benefit the most from being in the studio with the equipment. But if for any reason you can't make a class one week, we offer the option of joining us via zoom link from home, or having a recording of the class sent to you to do at home in your own time.
