Am I too old to do Pilates?

Our oldest member is 86. Next question.
Actually, let's answer it properly, because if you're asking this, the answer matters to you. The average age of our members is over 50, and a huge proportion of our classes are filled with people in their 60s, 70s and beyond. Pilates is not something you're too old for. If anything, it's one of the things that matters most as you get older.
Here's why. From around our 50s onwards, we naturally lose muscle mass, bone density and balance, unless we actively work against it. Pilates does all three: it builds and maintains strength gently, it trains balance in every session, and it keeps joints moving through their full range. That's the difference between "slowing down" and staying independent, and our older members feel it in daily life, stairs, gardening, grandchildren, getting up off the floor.
Everything is adapted to you. Arthritis, osteoporosis, hip replacements, we work around all of it, every week, for real members. If the floor is a concern, Chair Pilates gives you the full benefits of the method without needing to get up and down.
Age isn't the reason to stay away. It's the reason to start.
