A few things in your favour here, so let's put your mind at rest.

First, Pilates is not a sweat-drenched, cardio-heavy workout. It's controlled, deliberate movement, so most people warm up gently rather than overheating. The studio is kept at a comfortable temperature, it's well ventilated, and with a maximum of 12 people in a class the room never gets that packed, stuffy gym feeling.

Second, you're in control of the intensity. If you start feeling too warm, you can ease off, take the gentler version of an exercise, or pause for a breather whenever you like. Nobody will bat an eyelid, resting mid-class is completely normal here.

A few practical tips from members who run warm: wear light, breathable layers you can peel off; bring a water bottle and sip freely throughout, there's no rule against drinking mid-exercise; and if you know you overheat easily, mention it at your induction or before class, we'll make sure you're positioned in the coolest spot in the room.

If hot flushes are part of life right now, you're in very understanding company. A large share of our members are women in their 50s and 60s, and this comes up in conversation more often than you'd think. Zoom classes from home are always an option too, fan and all.
