Common Concerns

Is everyone young and skinny?

No, and this might be the most important answer on this whole page.

The average age of our members is over 50. Our members range from their 20s right up to 86. They come in every shape and size you can imagine, and every fitness level from "haven't exercised since school" to "does this six times a week."

We are not a gym. There are no mirrors to pose in front of, no matching lycra sets, no twenty-somethings filming workouts in the corner. The Pilates Corner is a small, friendly studio full of ordinary people, most of whom arrived feeling exactly the way you might be feeling right now, a bit nervous, a bit stiff, and quietly convinced they'd be the odd one out. They weren't. You won't be either.

Our classes are deliberately built for this mix. Everything is layered, so a 35-year-old triathlete and a 70-year-old with arthritis can be in the same class, each doing the version that suits their own body, both getting exactly what they need.

If you've been putting off Pilates because you think it's full of young, bendy people in expensive leggings, come and see for yourself. Book a free chat, or come and look around the studio. I think you'll recognise your people the moment you walk in.
