Common Concerns

Am I too big to do Pilates?

No. Pilates is not a size-restricted activity, and you will never be weighed, measured or assessed by appearance here.

What matters is that exercises work for the body you have today, and that's our job to sort out, not yours. Our instructors adapt every movement for the person doing it. Positions that are uncomfortable in a larger body get changed, we use cushions, props, chairs and walls to make things accessible, and there is never a "real" version you're failing to do. The version that works for your body is the exercise.

Getting up and down from the floor can be a genuine practical concern, so it's worth saying plainly: if floor work is a barrier right now, that's not a reason to stay away, it's a reason to tell us. Chair Pilates exists partly for exactly this, and in mat classes we'll make sure you have the time, space and support to get up and down comfortably. You won't be rushed.

The studio itself is a genuinely judgement-free place. Our members come in every size, the average age is over 50, and nobody is looking at your body except your instructor, who is looking at alignment, not aesthetics.

Your size is a detail of how we teach you. It is not a barrier to starting.
